Put on the Whole Armor of God

The Lord commands us, as believers, to put on His armor, so we can defeat Satan each day. (Ephesians 6:11-18) How often do you put on the armor of God? Do you put it all on or just part of it? I believe it is one of the most helpful things I do each morning. I would encourage you to make it a daily practice.

Simply, remember that you received the helmet of salvation and the mind of Christ, when you came to know Jesus as Lord and Savior. Therefore, live in the assurance of that salvation and use the mind of Christ. Thank God that you have the breastplate of righteousness, because He gave you the righteousness of Christ and in His righteousness, you can be right with other people. His righteousness will guard your heart, so that you have the right emotions and attitudes each day. You have the belt of Truth because Jesus is the Truth, and He will cause you to be rightly oriented toward the things in your life, if you trust in His Truth. Your feet are shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, so that you can stand firm for the cause of Christ, and you can share the gospel with those you meet. Then, you have the shield of faith. If you trust Jesus instead of yourself or others, you will not be hit by the fiery darts of Satan. Also, you have the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God, so use it as your offensive weapon to do battle with the forces of evil. God's Word is sharp and powerful. Finally, never forget to pray, because we have constant access to God through Christ, so we must stay in communication with our Lord in the battles of life each day.

I believe when you put on that armor in the morning, it changes your day, since you know what causes you to stand in the power of the Lord and the grace of Christ.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 18-19 and Acts 20:17-38.
