Those Who Forget God - Psalms 49-50 and Romans 1

It is difficult to comprehend our pride and independence as human beings. We think we are able to take care of ourselves, and we forget God or reject God. This happens all of the time. The psalmists in these two psalms speak of the wealthy people who think they will live forever on the earth. They think they will control their wealth forever. Then, one day they are gone, and their possessions are left behind. They have to face the God they forgot as Judge. It is a terrible thought. What will a person who forgot God or rejected God say when he stands before Him?

Paul tells us in Romans 1 that he will have no excuse, because God revealed Himself to him through creation and in his own heart. He further goes on to explain that when a person forgets the one True God or rejects the True God that it causes his life to be turned upside down. His life does not resemble how God designed it to be at all. In fact, it gets worse and worse as time goes by. His sin effects others, until one day, he finds himself standing before God in judgment. I pray that this passage in Romans 1 does not describe your life, but if it does, I beg you to turn back to God. Cry out to the one who has shown Himself to you. Don't continue in pride and independence. The only way to real life, eternal life, is through knowing the True God and submitting to Him in faith. Don't allow your busyness or your wealth to lead you to forget Him. Don't allow your earthly wisdom to cause you to reject Him. Bow your heart to Him before it is eternally too late.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 51-53 and Romans 2.
