Getting a Clean Heart and a Loyal Spirit

I have had to learn quite a few things since Chris went to be with the Lord. She had taught me well, but I have still needed to learn how to get my clothes clean when they got extra dirty. Also, I am learning the best ways for me to keep the house clean, especially the bathrooms. I think I am doing pretty well, but I still have to focus on keeping everything clean once I get it clean. It is a full time job.

The same is true for living the Christian life. We can get dirty. David got very dirty by committing adultery and murder. Then, he repented and cried out to God. (Psalm 51:10) "Create in me a clean heart, Oh God. Renew a loyal spirit in me." David knew just what he needed once he saw his sins. We all need to ask God the same thing from time to time when we fall into sin. Let's learn from this verse.

We can't clean our own heart. Sin is a stain that only God can remove. He created our heart, and He is the Only One who can make it totally clean, First, we have to repent of our sins and trust Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Then, God gives us a new heart that is cleansed from every trace of sin. Then, after we are saved, we can still choose to sin which makes our heart dirty again. We have to confess our sins like David did in Psalm 51, and God creates a clean heart in us again. We have to be diligent to listen to the Spirit and get God to create a clean heart in us every time we are stained by sin.

Then, we need to stay clean. We need to have a loyal spirit. Our spirit is the part of us that is able to relate to God. We can speak to Him, and He can speak to us. When we have a loyal spirit, we listen to God, so that we don't sin and get dirty. That is how God designed for us to live after we get saved. Like I have said many times, we can't lose our salvation, but we can be disloyal to God and hurt our relationship with Him. As Christians, our daily walk with God should be the top priority in our lives. So, let's get a clean heart and keep a loyal spirit.
