True Wisdom and Real Understanding

There are some things that people try to make very complicated, but they are actually very simple. I think they do this because they want to feel good about themselves when they meet the requirements. Wisdom is one of those things. People want to say that we can only have wisdom if we have a PhD degree. Even then it is only that we have wisdom in that particular area. Believe me, having a degree doesn't cause anyone to have wisdom. Anyone can have true wisdom and real understanding to go with it. It is not complicated.

Job had come to see what it takes to have true wisdom and real understanding. We don't know just how he learned it, but his observations agrees with others whom God inspired to write His Word. That is strong evidence that Job really knew what he was talking about. (Job 28:28) Job said that God had told all humanity that the fear of the Lord is true wisdom, and to forsake evil is real understanding. See, that is not so complicated is it?

When we come to the point that we know we need to have a healthy fear of the One who created everything and had the wisdom to do it all just right, we have true wisdom. God is All-Wise, and all wisdom comes from Him, so we need to worship Him in awe of who He is, and we need to agree with what He says in His Word in every detail. Yes, we should even be afraid of what He could do to us is we fail to follow His wisdom. Then, we will live in true wisdom.

Also, the complimentary truth that goes with wisdom is that when we forsake evil in all of its forms, we have real understanding. We are seeing the facts of life correctly when we understand that it is always wrong to choose evil, even if we think it might bring pleasure or temporary satisfaction. Those things are nothing compared to the satisfaction and peace that come from doing the right things in the right way. Therefore, we forsake all evil, and we have gained real understanding. So we have two things that all of us can and should do, so we have true wisdom and real understanding.
