The Valley of Decision
For several years our family had a subscription to Billy Graham's magazine. It was called "Decision" magazine. I would imagine that is still the name. I am not sure who came up with that name, but I believe it is the perfect name for a magazine from an evangelist. God had called Billy Graham to call people to make a decision about trusting Jesus as Lord and Savior once and for all. There are still multitudes of people who have not made that decision.
The book of Joel ends with a section about the end of time. It sets the stage in the time before the battle of Armageddon. The armies will be amassed in the Valley of Megiddo marching to attack the believers in Jerusalem, as Jesus comes back to strikes them all with the sword of His mouth. They will make the decision to attack God's people, and they will die for it. (Joel 3:14) Joel said he saw multitudes in the valley of decision, and the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision. The same is true today, too.
We live in a day and time when most people have decided to take the broad road that leads to destruction. They have rejected the revelation of God to them. They have rejected the Bible and whatever they have been told about Jesus. They are marching with the masses in the valley of decision, and the Day of the Lord could come at any time now. They still have a chance to repent and trust Jesus before He comes, but after that they are lost forever. We need to pray for the multitudes and share the Good News of Jesus with as many as possible.
The main thing is to know Jesus in a personal relationship. I am afraid there are many people who are church members who do not have a real relationship with Jesus. They are depending on living a good life or baptism or church membership to get them to heaven. None of those things will suffice. It takes genuine repentance from our sins, sincere faith in Jesus as the Only One who can forgive our sins because of His death and resurrection, and our surrendering to Jesus as Lord. That is the decision that lies before all of the multitudes today.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Amos 2-4.
