Teach Us His Ways, Walk in His Paths
We have all been to school of one kind or another because we needed to learn the basic knowledge for life. We have learned reading, writing, and arithmetic. Without those skills our lives are very difficult. Then, there are other schools for us to learn special skills like how to be a plumber or an electrician. Those schools are very helpful, along with colleges of all kinds. However, there is a lot of learning that is even more important for us to learn that most of these school don't teach.
The prophet Micah told us of a time in the future when Jesus will reign from Jerusalem for 1,000 years. (Micah 4:2) "Many nations will come and say, 'Come, let us go up to the mountain of the lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, and we shall walk in His paths.' For out of Zion the law shall go forth, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem." At that time people will want to go learn from the Lord. I pray that people would ready and willing to learn those things even now.
There are many good churches in the world that exist to help people know Jesus and to teach His ways and how to walk in His paths. Unfortunately, people are not streaming to these churches. For one reason or another they are missing out on learning the things that will help them most in life. What could be more important than learning the ways of the Lord? He created all things and designed everything, so His ways are the right ways to do everything we need to do on a daily basis.
We also need to learn to walk in His paths. There are some people who know His ways, but they are not walking in His paths every day. They have not learned obedience. Again, that is one of the purposes of the church. We are there to help each other and hold each other accountable, so we learn to live like Jesus would have us to live. We can't do that without help from the Lord and other believers. That is why all of us need to be in church on a regular basis, not just for worship services, as important as they are, but also in all kinds of groups that help us learn and grow.
