Christian Unity

Unity is a very precious commodity. It is something we have very little of today in America. I believe our country is as divided as it has ever been. The two sides don't talk, and they can't come to agreement on the important issues. However, with Christians it should not be that way. Believers should have a supernatural unity based on our relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, it doesn't always work out that way.

David was a believer and a king as he wrote some of his psalms. He experienced much disunity among the people of God. However, he loved it when he did get to see true unity. (Psalm 133:1) David said, "Behold, how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity." I will say, "Amen" to that myself. I pray we all agree with David on this point.

Life is so much better and more pleasant when we dwell together in unity with those around us, which includes our families and our church families. When there is an absence of strife and the presence of unity, there is a peace that comes from the Lord. That is how it should be all the time, because we have the Same Father, the same Lord Jesus, and the same Holy Spirit to guide us to unity under God's Word.

The problem is that we have to stay right with the Lord, or we will not see things the way He sees things. We will not interpret the Word correctly, and we won't live out the Word as we should. When those things happen, the unity between believers is broken because we are believing or doing things differently. That makes our fellowship shattered, and life is not good and pleasant.  Let's all make sure that doesn't happen to us. Also, let's pray for others to stay unified.
