Don't Limit God
We can actually keep God's work from getting done the way He wants to do it. I know that sounds crazy, but I believe it is very true. It might be God's will to work through us to accomplish His will. However, when He comes to us and calls us to do that work, we have some excuse for why we can't do it, or why it can't be done. Therefore, we don't even try, and God's work is not done through us as He wanted. We should never limit God that way.
Saul's son, Jonathan, was not one to limit God. He gave us all a great lesson in how to think about God and how He works. (I Samuel 14:6) He told the young man who was his armor bearer to go with him to the garrison of the Philistines because it might be that the Lord would work for them, since nothing restrains the Lord from saving by many or by few. Jonathan knew that God was not limited in what He could do.
As believers, we need have that mindset all of the time. We must trust the Lord and believe that if He calls us to do something, He will give us the ability and wisdom to achieve it, no matter what. We might be tempted to think we are not smart enough, or we are not powerful enough. We must put those things out of our mind, and go ahead and let God work through us.
The same principle goes for a church. Sometimes we might be tempted to think that God can't work through our church because there are only a relatively few people in our church compared to the people in the world around us. We must move forward confidently knowing that God can save by many or by few. God is not limited, but we can limit Him, if we have the wrong mindset and a lack of belief.
