What God Wants to See
We all want to know what other people expect from us. We want them to like us and accept us. If we go against their expectations that will not happen. The same is true for the Lord. We have to know His expectations and fulfill them, so He will be pleased with us and how we relate to Him and others.
Amos gave us a picture of what God wants to see. (Amos 5:24) God wants to see a mighty flood of justice and an endless river of righteous living. That gives us a powerful word picture. We see the desire of God's heart and how to fulfill that desire.
God doesn't just want to see us practice a little justice. He wants to see a huge flood of being just in every area of our lives. He wants us to treat other people with respect and dignity, never taking advantage of another person. He wants us to treat them, as we want to be treated, or even better.
God also wants to see an endless river of living according to His Word, so that we can be right with Him and with others. We can't just do this part of the time. We must be focused on doing His will 24/7. Of course, we can't only pretend to want to do His will at various times. We must sincerely live out His righteousness in the power of His Spirit continually to meet His expectations.
