Personal Instructions from Jesus
The apostle Paul was a remarkable person and a fabulous witness for Jesus Christ. He met Jesus on the road to Damascus when he was blinded by the bright light, and he clearly heard His voice speaking to him. After that, God continued to give him personal instructions for what he should do in his service for the Lord. On another occasion Jesus appeared to Him a second time, and told him not to be afraid, but he was going to be a witness in Rome as well. (Acts 23:11) Since Paul had been arrested, that promise may have seemed almost impossible to Paul, but he trusted the Lord and he fulfilled that part of his ministry. We all need to do the same thing.
I know Jesus does not appear to all of us so we can see him like Paul did, but He is able to give us specific instructions for our lives. It is part of knowing Christ. We are His sheep, and we hear His voice. (John 10) When He does give us a personal instruction, we must be assured that it will happen if we are faithful to follow Him and depend on the Spirit to empower and protect us. That is what happened to Paul as he made it to Rome, and it will happen to us today. We should be faithfully listening for the Lord and seeking Him daily, so we can know just what He wants us to do, and we should do it fully.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Acts 24-26.
