God's Wide Place
Life is filled with a lot of stress. Many times we have conflicts with other people. It is hard to find a place of unity and cooperation with people. When we do it is a special blessing. God is able to make us fruitful when we find that place.
Isaac found that place for him and his family. He had gone through a period of time where his herdsmen struggled with the Philistine herdsmen. Isaac was seeking water for his flocks by re-digging the wells which Abraham had dug, but the Philistines stopped up. Each time his men were successful in re-digging a well, the Philistines would contend with them for the well. Isaac did not want to fight. He moved on to the next well, until he finally came to the well he named, Rehoboth. (Genesis 26:22) The word Rehoboth is a Hebrew word that means "wide place." Isaac came to a place that was big enough for him and the others to dwell in peace. They were able to cooperate together instead of struggling with each other. Isaac knew that made for a fruitful life. What a blessing!
Have you found your Rehoboth. or are you still in a conflict with those around you? Conflict is stressful, and it can be miserable. We can spend our time thinking about the problems, and we can be immobilized from doing God's will. I pray that you will keep going until you find God's wide place for you. I believe He has one for each of us, because He wants all of us to have a fruitful life. I have found mine, and I want to see more and more fruit for His glory.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Genesis 27-29.
