The Whole Counsel Of God
As I have read through the second half of the book of Acts, I have been impressed about how difficult it was for Paul in his ministry. Of course, there are lists of all of his tribulations in II Corinthians, but to read it in Acts shows a constant battle. Time after time he was imprisoned, beaten, and even stoned, because people disagreed with what he was preaching. I can't imagine how discouraging it could have been.
All of that being the case, Paul never changed his message. He never distorted the gospel. He continued to declare to everyone the "whole counsel of God." That is a good way to say that he never "pulled any punches." When he knew he might end up in jail or get physically attacked, he still delivered everything the Lord gave him to say. He never compromised for the sake of his comfort.
I believe we need to stand firm like Paul in the world today. People need to hear the whole counsel of God from His inerrant Word. We must be the consistent messengers of God's truth, all of the truth. Then, the world will see and hear the truth, so the Spirit can use it to draw them to Jesus.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Acts 22-24.
