Christian Friends
I can't imagine what my life would be like without Christian friends. It is easy for me to have friends who are believers, since I am a pastor. However, it is really very simple for anyone. If you want the right kind of friends, choose them for their character, not for other shallow reasons.
It is an old saying, but it is true, "If you run with the dogs, you will get fleas." Friends will lead you toward God or away from Him. It is up to us to know the difference, so we don't get led astray.
To have friends that are wholesome, you have to seek them out. You have to be a friend to them, and you have to be the kind of person they want to be around. There are all kinds of people around who want friends. Many of them don't have friends, because they are not a good friend to have. We must be careful about those with whom we have close fellowship.
Of course, I am not saying that we should not have friends that are not believers or who are weak believers. We are their friends, and we love them. However, we realize they are not the type of friends to confide in and to try to get advice from. They are the ones we try to help, instead of going to them for help.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Micah 5-7 and Nahum 1.
