Joining God in His Work
This morning we had a great study time in Luke 10 with our men. They are always so ready to apply God's Word to their lives. They love grasping His truth. Today was no exception.
We had a discussion about how to approach people to share the gospel with them. Some people take a more subtle path, and others are more direct. The fact is both are fine in the right situation. We have to rely on the Spirit to give us the words to say and the way to share them.
This goes back to Henry Blackaby's Seven Realities in His workbook Experiencing God. The first reality is "God is always at work around you." Our job is not to do His work for Him. It is to join Him in what He is doing when we see what He is doing in people with whom we have contact. When we discern that He is working in another person, we allow the Spirit to show us how to approach that person. Then, we obey for His glory.
Too often we forget that we can't change anyone. If we could convince someone to follow the Lord Jesus, someone else could talk them out of it. It is only when it is the work of God that it is lasting and real. We ought to want to be a part of that true work of God in the lives of those around us and do whatever we can to bring them the Good News of Jesus.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 112-114.
