No Longer Slaves to Sin
Tonight, we had a wonderful study of Romans 6:8-14. The main point is that once we become Christians, we are no longer slaves to sin. Sin no longer has dominion over us. We can still choose to sin, but to do that we have to refuse to listen to the Spirit who lives in us. We have to choose to give the members of our bodies to do unrighteousness. Instead, of doing that we must die to sin, and we must yield ourselves to do righteousness.
We simply need to decide not to listen to the fleshly desires. That is how the Devil leads us to sin. We must listen to the Spirit, and we will not fulfill the desires of the flesh. (Galatians 5:16-17) Once we die to a sin, it is much easier not to do it the next time we are tempted.
I pray that all of us will know the freedom that comes from being a Christian and being set free from the dominion of sin, the reign of sin in our lives. I pray that we can enjoy the freedom to do the right thing, and the joy that brings. It is God's will for every Christian.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 72-73 and Romans 9:1-15.
