December 15, 2006 - Amos 1-3 and Revelation 6
Amos delivered prophecies against all of the countries in that region of the world, and then, he came to Israel and Judah. He pointed out that their sin was worse, because they had a relationship with God that the other countries did not have. (3:2) They were the only family that God had "known" out of all the families of the earth. Instead of walking with God, they had gone their own way. They had despised God's laws, and they had lied to Him. (2:4) God had sent the prophets to warn them about their sin. (3:7) They did not listen, so God had to punish them. I think we as Christians do the same thing today. We look at the unbelievers, and we talk about how evil they are. They do not have a relationship with God, and they do not know to do right. (3:10) We need to look closely at ourselves, instead. We do know to do right, but are we doing what we know to do?
Revelation 6 begins a description of the Tribulation time that I believe will last 7 years. Satan will be active in his conquests as seen by the one on the white horse, but the world will be filled with death, disease, and famine until one-fourth of all of the people die. Many of those who die will be Christians, and God will take them directly to His throne. They may have to suffer for a season, but heaven is a wonderful place of rest and reward for them. Are you a faithful believer? Are you ready to suffer for Jesus? We all need to be prepared for events like this to take place in our world at any time.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Amos 4-6 and Revelation 7.
