Completely in the Dark

 There are many people who do not believe in God. They have bought into the theory of evolution, false religions, or different philosophies. Then, there are others who might believe in some type of "God," but they won't believe in the God of the Bible because they want to do things their own way. Still others go so far as to contradict the teaching of the Bible. They actually fight against the Lord and His Word, thinking they can prove the Bible is wrong. I feel sorry for all of these people and pray for them to come to the light.

The prophet Isaiah came to exhort the people to return to God. He was very blunt most of the time. He saw what was going on, and he encouraged them to do the right thing. (Isaiah 8:20) He told them to look to God's instructions and teachings. He assured them that people who contradict God's Word are completely in the dark. I believe this is the truth, and we all need to hear it, both believers and unbelievers. Let me show us why I say that.

Every person should take a serious look at God's instructions and teachings. No one is saying that they have to accept them by faith. Do the research. See all the evidence that the Bible was inspired by an all-wise, all-powerful God. There is so much evidence of that fact that a person has to just be blinded by prejudices not to see it. Then, once a person has seen that the Bible is reliable, they can read it objectively and see for themselves that it contains right instructions and teachings for all of us. It is so practical and helpful in so many ways.

If a person decides to go against the instructions and teachings of the Lord in the Bible, they are rejecting the light that God has given us to see truth. Our human minds can't know the truth on our own. We have to receive the revelation of God to us because that is His way of shining light into our minds, so we can see the truth and live by it. If we reject His Word, then, we are completely in the dark. We stumble over things that should be obvious to us, but we can't see them without any light. I pray we will all look at God's Word and receive His light.
