Answering Prayers with Awesome Deeds
We should be praying all of the time, since the Bible commands us to "pray without ceasing." When we pray we can be assured that God hears and answers our prayers that are prayed in faith from a heart that really wants to see His will done. Then, when God answers we should be so thankful that we express our gratitude over and over again, too. This should be our response all of the time, but especially when God answers us with awesome deeds only He can do.
David was in love with the Lord. He knew he could not live without the Lord being on his side because his enemies would kill him in whatever way they could. Therefore, David prayed a lot and saw God answer in many different ways. (Psalm 65:5) "You faithfully answer our prayers with awesome deeds, O God our Savior. You are the hope of everyone on earth, even those who sail on distant seas." Let's stop and see how God has done this in our lives, so we can thank Him as we should.
I know that I prayed for Jesus to forgive my sins and to be my Lord and Savior when I was 14 years old. God not only answered my prayer by giving me salvation, but a couple of years later He called me to preach the gospel as a pastor. He worked an awesome deed by taking a relatively shy young man and giving me the ability to preach His Word, and He has sustained me in that for 50+ years now. I am amazed and thankful for God's awesome deeds.
A few months after I was called to preach, I prayed for God to show me the girl He wanted me to date without me even having to ask her. He did an awesome deed then by having Chris's best friend to ask her to go out with me the first time. She was just the perfect wife for me, which was another awesome deed. I could go on and on about awesome deeds God did in the churches I served and in our family. God is so good! He is the hope of everyone on earth, if you will just trust Jesus. Then, you can pray and see His awesome deeds in your life, too.
