Morning and Evening
I would imagine that most of us have our routines for what we do in the mornings and in the evenings. This is important for those who are having to get ready to go to work and to church, as well as for those who always try to make sure they get enough sleep every day. So, please, take a minute and think about the things which are included in your routines and consider if you need to add anything or subtract anything so you can have a more abundant life like the Lord wants you to have.
The Levites were men in the tribe of Levi. Their job was to assist the priests, so that everything was done well in the Temple with all of the sacrifices, the special feasts of the year, and the general operations every day. One of their duties stood out to me. (I Chronicles 23:30) Each morning and evening they were to stand before the Lord to sing songs of thanks and praise to Him. If this was God's command to the Levites, I believe it would be what He desires for us, as His children, today.
Our mornings are important as they get our days off to the right start. We might eat right and prepare ourselves physically for the day, but is that all that is needed? I don't think so. I believe we need to start the day with thanksgiving and praise to God, whether we sing it or speak it. This gets our hearts set on God for the great and mighty God that He is. If we don't start off right spiritually, the rest of the day will probably not go well. Therefore, we need to add this to our routine and allow plenty of time for thanks and praise every day.
Then, in the evening we need to do the same thing. Just think, if we come in and eat and then, we sit at the computer or in front of a television, we are feeding our minds and hearts a lot of things that might or might not be good for us. We are not really thinking about how our day went, or what the Lord would have us do the next day. That is why we need to add thanksgiving and praise to our evening routine, too. I believe this will prepare us for sleep, and it will give us the proper attitude to evaluate what God accomplished in us and for us that day, so we can give Him the glory He deserves.
