Speaking with the Lord

This is a subject that I return to again and again, because there is so much said about it in the Bible. From Genesis to Revelation we read accounts of people who speak with God. I am sure that did not happen only in the Bible times, but God wants to speak with each of us today and on a regular basis. However, I am not sure that is not a regular occurrence for many of us, even believers. That is why I bring it up again today.

The Bible tells us that when Moses went into the Tabernacle, he would speak with the Lord. (Numbers 7:89) He would hear God's voice speaking to him from between the two cherubim above the ark's cover - the place of atonement - that rested on the Ark of the Covenant. The Lord spoke to Moses from there. Now, God is ready to meet with you and speak with you. Are you ready?

One of our greatest privileges as people made in the image of God is to be able to speak with the Lord. Yes, we can have a conversation with Him. He is very capable of speaking with us, whether it is an audible voice or He speaks to our hearts, God speaks very clearly. Of course, we can speak with Him. That is what we do when we pray, and we are commanded to pray without ceasing. So, when was the last time you sat down or knelt down and spoke with the Lord?

We do have to prepare to meet with God. We need to confess our sins first, so we are clean as we approach Him. Then, as we humble ourselves, and we go to Him in faith, God loves to come to us. We can pour out our heart to Him, giving Him all of our cares for He cares for us. Then, we are to listen for His voice. The more you hear it, the easier it will be to discern that it is the Lord. He is especially pleased to speak with us, when He knows we will do what He says and live by His wisdom. I pray we will all do this today and every day.
