But the Lord

There have been so many times in my life where things have happened, and I did not know how it would all turn out. Then, after all was said and done, I could look back and say, "But the Lord brought us through it all and blessed us in the process." I am sure that if you know the Lord could could give several examples of this your life, too. God is so good to show up right at the right time and in the right way to rescue us from something going terribly wrong. Let's not forget those times, and let's give all of the thanks to the Lord.

Joseph's life is a great example of this truth. His brothers hated him and sold him into slavery. But the Lord blessed him. His master's wife falsely accused him of rape and had him thrown into prison. (Genesis 39:21) "But the Lord was with Joseph in the prison and showed him his faithful love. And the Lord made Joseph a favorite with the prison warden." Yes, Joseph suffered even though he had done nothing wrong, but the Lord was always with him and blessing him.

Just because we know the Lord, and He is always with us doesn't mean that we won't have problems and pain. It means that God will be faithful to do whatever it takes to lead us through to the other side of our ordeal. Then, we will delivered. Often, it will be in a way that we would not have thought was possible. God's faithful love causes Him to remain steadfast and use His power for our good. It is never a question of God not being faithful to us.

The question is, "Will we be faithful to God?" Joseph was hated by his brothers, sold into slavery, and put in prison. However, he never quit trusting God and depending on Him. Our faithfulness must not depend on our circumstances. We must be faithful no matter what happens. Then, God will see that we are taken care of. Even if we get killed or die, we will wake up in heaven with Him, and we will say, "But the Lord."
