Being Frustrated with God
We all get frustrated from time to time, some of us more than others. We get frustrated when others don't do what they say. We get frustrated when things don't happen the way we thought they would, or they don't happen as quickly as we thought they would. A lot of times it is because of a lack of patience, but our frustration can also come when bad things happen, and we don't know why they are happening to us or someone we love. Many of us have been frustrated with God at one point or another for these same reasons.
Moses was sent to Egypt by God, and he was given instructions on what to say and do. He did follow his instructions and things got worse instead of getting better. (Exodus 5:23) In his frustration Moses prayed to God and told Him that ever since he had come to Pharaoh as His spokesman, Pharaoh had been even more brutal to the Hebrew people. He complained that God had done nothing to rescue them, either. It is clear that Moses was frustrated with God, but he did the right things.
The good thing about God is that He can take it when we get frustrated with Him. He wants us to pray and to pour out our heart to Him. He loves it when we are honest with Him and we don't try to hide how we feel. After all, He knows what is in our heart. We can't hide it from Him. When we pray transparently, God is able to comfort us and to show us what we should do next. He is able to show us that we need to be patient and wait on Him. Then, He will do His part to make things good.
The worst thing we can do is to get mad and to give up on God. That doesn't ever make sense. That is what Satan tempts us to do. We need to remember that God is love, and He always does the loving thing, even if it doesn't seem that way to us. He is always able to make all things work together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. Therefore, when we get frustrated with God, we need to keep loving Him, keep trusting Him, and keep doing what He tells us to do, so He can work things out for us and for others.
