The Marriage of the Lamb

Most people love to go to weddings. They are supposed to be joyous celebrations of the love commitment of a man and a woman. Some people have their weddings in exotic places, so that the guests have to travel many miles, but it is worth the expense. I recently saw a post from some friends of mine who went to India to attend a wedding. However, one day there is going to be a wedding much farther away than that. You don't want to miss that wedding.

One day that special wedding will come. (Revelation 19:7,8) We will be commanded to be glad and  rejoice and give Jesus glory for the time for the marriage of the Lamb will have come. It will happen when the bride has made herself ready. It will be granted for her to wear fine linen, clean and bright. The fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. Can you use your sanctified imagination with me to conceive of what a wonderful day this will be?

In the Bible Jesus is portrayed as the Groom, and the church is the Bride of Christ. This is such a perfect way to show the total commitment of Jesus to each of us who trust Him as Lord and Savior. We have a permanent relationship with the One who gave Himself for us, so that we could have our sins forgiven. He will never leave us or forsake us, just like a faithful husband never for sakes his wife. That is why I still have on my wedding band and wear Chris' rings on a chain around my neck.

The Bride of Christ will be ready for the marriage of the Lamb when the last person is saved. That is when the Rapture will happen, and Jesus will take all believers to heaven. The Marriage of the Lamb will be one of the first things we do in heaven. We will be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, because we will be cleansed from all of our sins forever, and we will have our righteous acts as saints to follow us into eternity. That is why we need to live for Christ and bear much fruit, so we have many righteous acts to give Him glory and so others will be a part of this wedding.
