Jesus will Judge the World
There will be a Judgment Day for everyone who has ever been born into this world. It will be a fair and just verdict that is rendered. There is no need to fear getting a raw deal. The Judge will be Jesus, the One ordained by the Father to be our Judge. What better person could be chosen to fill that position than the sinless Son of God, who came to earth as a man, so He could relate to us and give His life for us?
That is what Paul was preaching to those intellectuals in Athens, Greece, as he was given the opportunity to address all of them on the Areopagus. (Acts 17:31) He told them they all needed to repent of their sins and unbelief, because God had appointed a day on which He would judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He had given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead. Of course, many of them did not listen, but we better listen and repent.
There is no escaping the fact that God is alive, and He is Lord over all of His creation. He established truth, as well as right and wrong. We have all sinned by doing what is wrong and departing from His truth. God knew that would happen, and He knew we would need some incentive to live according to His commands. Therefore, He has given us a final exam date. We will be judged on how we lived our lives.
Jesus is God, so He knows all, and He is love. He experienced manhood, too. That makes Him perfectly qualified to judge each of us on how we lived our lives. It won't be about having our sins forgiven. We have to trust Jesus as Lord and Savior before we die to have our sins forgiven. This will be about how well we did what God had for us to do in life. It will either be a terrible day or a good day based on our obedience to Him. I pray we will be ready for that day by repenting from sin and living righteous lives until that day.
