A Prophet like Moses
When we witness to others about Jesus being the Lord and Savior, we always need to be sensitive to the best way to relate to them. We never change the message of the gospel, but we share the truth in a way they can grasp it. That is what Peter did in his messages to the Jewish people after the death and resurrection of Jesus. He quoted the Old Testament passages about Jesus, so they would understand.
That is just what Peter did in Acts 3 when He quoted Moses, the leader they most admired and followed. (Acts 3:22) Peter reminded the crowd that Moses had truly told the fathers, "The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear in all things, whatever He says to you" That is still so relevant to us today.
Moses was a leader and a prophet who spoke forth God's Word. He wrote the first 5 books of the Law. Here he foretold Jesus's coming. He told them a Prophet like him was coming. Jesus became a man which is what Moses was. He was a Jew, so He came from their brethren. That should have made them be able to see Jesus was the Messiah.
Also Jesus spoke forth God's Word even more than Moses. They all tried to keep all of the laws Moses gave them from God. Moses was saying when the Prophet like Him comes they should hear and obey all that He says even more than they obeyed Moses. Yes, Jesus was a Prophet. He also was a Priest and a King. He is Lord and Savior. We all need to hear Him, heed Him, and trust Him as Lord and Savior.
