Serve like Jesus!

Every person who is born into this world has to figure out what life is all about for themselves. Yes, I know that God is working in each person to help them come to know Him and to do the right things, but each person has the ability to receive God's revelation or reject it. Most reject it, and go their own way. They end up living for themselves, trying to have as much pleasure as possible. They miss God's will for having the best life possible.

Jesus shared the truth with His disciples because two of them wanted to be the greatest ones in His kingdom. That displeased the others, so Jesus had to calm everyone and set them all straight. (Matthew 20: 27) Jesus told them that whoever desires to be first among you must be your slave. That is the opposite of what this world tells us. However, God's kingdom is very different from this world system. We need to embrace God's way of service.

The essence of Jesus's life on earth was service. It was being a slave of all. Jesus left all of His riches in heaven, and He came to live in poverty on this earth. He came to help every person have the chance to have eternal life. He did that by giving His life on the cross. On the way to the cross Jesus healed many people, cast out many demons, and helped multitudes of people know the truth. He lived to serve others.

That is the greatest life that anyone can possibly live. I know we can't be Jesus, but we can do the same thing on our level. We can live a simple life that is not about us, but about how we can serve others. We can use our time and resources to help as manty people as possible along life's way. We will not only be like Jesus, but we will experience the joy of pleasing God and seeing others come to know and love the Lord.
