Increasing in Wisdom, Stature, and Favor

We all need to be growing all of the time. Anything that is not growing and changing is dead. As long as we are alive in this world, we need to be increasing in the things that make for a good life. Some people think that means making more and more money, while others think it means having more and more pleasures of various kinds. However, those things don't make for a meaningful life that leads us to honor the Lord.

The Bible tells us how Jesus grew as a teenager and an adult. I believe we all should have the same kind of growth to have a fulfilling life. (Luke 2:52) Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men. Sounds like a great formula for growth to me. Let's examine each part and see how it applies to us today.

We all need wisdom. It only comes from God, so we have to get it by knowing Him better and better. Then, we can get more and more wisdom, because we can never have too much of seeing things the way God sees things. This helps us every day with every decision we need to make and every relationship we have. We also need to grow physically, Yes, I know we stop growing taller, but we can grow in our physical wellness and abilities. That way we are able to handle whatever comes our way in life.

We all need favor, too. We need to get along with God and others well. Therefore, we need to keep growing in our understanding of God and His ways, so we can live a life pleasing to Him, and He can bless us with His favor.  We need to have favor with people, because life is made up of relationships. If we have strained or bad relationships, our lives will be full of pain. If we relate to others well, we will have their favor. That will make our lives much better.
