Help My Unbelief
I can still remember the day that I put my trust in Jesus as my Lord and Savior. It was glorious to finally step out and let everyone know that I was turning from my sins and asking Jesus to forgive my sins so I could be saved and have eternal life. I really did believe in Him, and that belief has continued to this day. However, there have been other areas of my life where I did not trust the Lord the way I should, and I have had to come to trust Him in those things, too.
When Jesus came down from the Mount of Transfiguration with Peter, James, and John, He found His disciples having a problem because they could not cast an evil spirit out of a man's son. Jesus took over. He told the father that all things are possible, if he would believe. (Mark 9:24) The father cried out with tears, "Lord, I believe; help my unbelief." I believe this is a great prayer for all of us.
I know many Christians, who believe in Jesus to forgive their sins, but they can't trust Him with their finances. They know what the Bible says about giving our tithes to the Lord, but they don't have enough faith in God's ability to provide, so they fail to trust Him in that area, and they fail to have God's blessings on their finances. They need to ask God to help their unbelief and do what He tells them to do out of faith. Then, God can work what seems to be impossible to them.
Others can't trust God with their family matters. They know that the husband is to be the head of the family, and the wife is to submit to her husband, but they do not operate in those ways by faith and trust the Lord to lead them. They do things their own ways, and things don't go well. They know they are to raise their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, but they let their children do what they want to do without any real guidance out of a lack of faith in God, so their family doesn't do well. They need to ask God to help their unbelief..
