Let Your Heart Be Loyal
Loyalty is a very noble virtue. It is a combination of commitment and perseverance. When we are loyal, we continue in our faithfulness even when there are hardships and difficulties. We can be loyal to another person or to our country. We can also be loyal to our beliefs. However, it is most important to be loyal to the Lord.
King Solomon dedicated the temple when it was completed, and he charged the people to be loyal. (I Kings 8:61) He admonished the people of Israel to make sure that their hearts were loyal to the Lord their God, to walk in His statutes and keep His commandments, as they were doing at that time. It was a call to steadfast commitment to the Lord.
It is one thing to go to church. It is a whole different thing to keep our hearts loyal to the Lord. When we are loyal to Him, we will not let anyone or anything come between us. We will be faithful to pray and to seek His will in all we do. Once we hear from the Holy Spirit, we do what He says, and we keep doing it until He tells us to stop. That is being loyal to God.
When we are loyal to God, we walk in His statutes. This means we are loyal to live every day according to the guidelines God has set out for us in His Word. We don't do things our way, but His way. We keep His commandments, both by not doing the wrong things and by doing the right things. It takes determination to be loyal over a long period of time, but it is very worth the blessings that come from God, as He is loyal to us.
