The Foreknowledge of God
It is my opinion that many people do not appreciate the fact that God knows everything in advance. He is outside of time and space, so He sees all of history from beginning to the end at the same time. That enables Him to make judgments on what to do, and those judgments are always right. The same is true for our lives. He knows us completely, and He knows what we will do before we do it. This is one way God is so different from us.
When God sent Moses to Egypt to lead His people out of slavery and into the Promised land, He already knew what was going to happen with Pharaoh and the people. (Exodus 3:19,20) He told Moses that He was sure that the king of Egypt would not let the people go, not even by a mighty hand. Therefore, He would stretch out His hand and strike Egypt with all His wonders, and after that Pharaoh would let them go. God was directing based on His foreknowledge, as He always does.
God knows all of our days before we are born. He sees what we will do at every stage in our lives. He knows every decision we will make. He uses that foreknowledge to know how we think and how He should draw us to put our faith in Him. He does all He can do to get us to trust Him, but He never forces anyone to surrender to Him. He does all of this out of His great love.
Right now God is guiding the world based on His foreknowledge of what people will do in the future. Just like God knew what Judas would do to betray Jesus, He knows what the Antichrist will do to get his grip on ruling the world at the end of time. God is leading us up to the moment Jesus will return, and He is basing it on His foreknowledge. We can be sure that things will happen just like the Bible says they will happen, because God knows everything in advance, and He has told us some of what He knows, so we can be ready for that day. I pray we will appreciate this truth about God.
