An Extra Blessing
Most of us think through every aspect of our lives. We often judge what will happen in the future by what happened to us in the past. Sometimes that works, and it can be a good way to proceed. Other times, it is the wrong thing to do, because it limits God to what He has done in the past.
Jacob, now named Israel, learned this lesson when he made it to Egypt and was reunited to his favorite son Joseph. (Genesis 48:11) When he saw Joseph's two sons, he told Joseph he did not think he would ever see his face again, but in fact, God had shown him Joseph's offsprings. What a wonderful extra blessing God gave Israel.
We should be open to the same thing happeing in our lives. If we realize God might give us an extra blessing, we will be much more likely to pray in faith for God to do just that. It doesn't mean He has to do what we pray, but it gives Him an opportunity to bless our faith.
I pray we will never limit God in our thinking or our praying. God is a wonderful God who wants to bless us richly as we trust Him. He is able to do more than we ask or think, too. Therefore, let's keep those two things in mind all the time, looking for a possible extra blessing.
