Failing to Listen

We all want to have people listen to us. One of the worst feelings we can have is feel like we are being ignored by other people. It makes us feel like they don't care about us, and that we are not important to them. Because of this, we should all really see that listening to others is very important.

Solomon's son, Rehoboam, did not listen to Jeroboam and the people of the 10 northern tribes of Israel when they asked for him to lighten their load. (II Chronicles 10:16) When all Israel saw that the king had not listened to them, they replied to the king that they no longer had a share in David and the tribe of Judah. They left and went to their homes, breaking away and forming a new country. All that, because their needs were ignored.

Let's make sure that we never fail to listen to those around us. It is hard in our busy world to take time with others, but it is important that we take that time with them. Then, as they share their needs and feelings with us, let's make sure we take them seriously. Let's be truly empathetic with them and do what we can to help them.

When we are ignored by others, I pray we will not allow that to make us depressed or to stop sharing with others. We must not give up because others fail us. We must take our needs to them Lord. He will listen and respond to us. Also, we need to ask the Lord to give us friends, who will listen to us and show us how much they care for us.
