The Donkey that Talked

Many times we sell ourselves short on our abilities. We have a negative opinion of ourselves and that keeps us from doing what we need to do. If we are believers, and we believe what the Bible tells us, this should never happen. However, it does happen because we fail to trust in the power of God as we should.

The story of Balaam's donkey should teach us all we need to know to be confident in what we can do. (Numbers 22:28) The Lord opened the mouth of the donkey, and she said to Balaam, "What have I done to you that you have struck me these three times? Just let that sink in for a minute.

God caused a donkey to talk and to instruct Balaam. Yes, it was a literal donkey, and God opened her mouth, so she could speak to Balaam. This shows us a great truth. If God can give a donkey the ability to talk, He can and will do the same kind of thing for us. We must not doubt this truth. In fact, God can give us any ability we need to do His will.

Therefore, we never can use the excuse that we are not able to do what the Bible says or what God tells us to do. The key is to listen to the Lord and to trust Him. Then, at the right moment He can open our mouth to say the right thing. He can give us the strength and ability to be His ambassadors and help others as they have need. Let's trust God to do just that every day.
