The Valley of Decision

It is beautiful to be in a valley between two mountains, but it can also be very scary. What if something happens, and you have to quickly escape? There is no fast way to get to safety. If you make a wrong decision, it could mean death. In a similar way we are all in a valley of decision between the mountains of belief and unbelief. We need to know God's way out. It is the only way.

Joel makes reference to the valley of decision. (Joel 3:14) He said there are thousands upon thousands waiting in the valley of decision. There the Day of the Lord will soon arrive. It sounds ominous, doesn't it? I believe it refers to the armies in the Valley of Megiddo before Armageddon. None of them made it out alive when Jesus showed up with the armies of heaven. They shouldn't have decided to attack God's people.

Today, each of us stands in the valley of decision, and the Day of the Lord could happen before the day is over. Yes, Jesus could return for His own and meet all the believers in the clouds, leaving all the others behind forever. Or, it could be the day you meet the Lord because your earthly life comes to an end. None of us are promised another hour. Are you ready for that day?

We all have to decide between believing in Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior or living all of eternity in unbelief. Jesus is the only way to Heaven. If we choose not to trust Him alone for our eternal salvation, we will die in the valley of decision, and live forever in torment without Him. It is up to us. What will you do?
