Spiritual Warfare

When we read the New Testament, it becomes obvious that we are engaged in a spiritual warfare against Satan and his demons. People who do not realize this situation are bound to be defeated, because no human being can be successful against the powers of darkness. When we try to fight the devil in our own power, He is too smart and too powerful, so he has his way with us to get us away from God's will for us. He is very capable of tempting us, so that we give in to sin and live in defeat and chaos. This is not God's will for anyone. He has provided what we need to live in victory. Paul makes this very clear in his writings in the New Testament. (II Corinthians 10:3-5) We all need to know that although we live in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. The weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but of the Spirit. The spiritual weapons are powerful through God for the demolition of strongholds. Also, we can demolish arguments and every proud thing that is raised up against the knowledge of God. Finally, we are able to take every thought captive to obey Christ. If we will fight with God's weapons, we will see all of these things happen all of the time.

People are not our problem. (Ephesians 6:12) Our struggles come from Satan and the demons that attack us all of the time. We must seize the spiritual weapons of the Word of God, prayer, and the power of the Spirit. Then, we must use them against Satan's forces. When we do that, he is powerless. We can pull down his strongholds that he has established to control our life. We can demolish the arguments and every proud thing that people bring up against the knowledge of God to try to get us to turn from Him. In fact, we have the ability in the Spirit to take every thought we have captive, so that we do not get defeated by the devil's temptations, but we obey Christ. All of this is possible and will happen, as we fight in the Spirit, not in the flesh. It happens when we fight Satan and the  demons, not people. This is our way to get to live the abundant Christian life every day.
