Lead Me to the Rock

Sometimes we feel pretty shaky and unsure of ourselves. It is a very bad feeling. We get anxious, and we do not know what is going to happen. I can remember being so nervous that my knees were knocking together. We can actually be so scared that we can't stand up. It is at times like these that we need some support. We need a firm foundation. David knew this feeling very well, since he had so many enemies. (Psalm 61:2,3) He had learned to call out to God from the ends of the earth, from wherever he was at the time, when his heart was without strength. He would ask God to lead him to the rock that was above him. That is a firm foundation, a refuge, and a strong tower in the face of the enemy. I believe this would be good for all of us. We all need to be led to the rock.

When we feel faint, and we are without strength, we must admit our inability to handle things on our own. We must be humble enough to call on God. Then, we can ask Him to lead us to the rock above us. I know David was talking about a rock from which he could see his enemies and protect himself better. He was looking for a refuge, a strong tower to enable him to stand in the face of his enemy. I believe that we have a Rock today. Our Rock is Jesus. We need to ask God to lead us to Jesus, and He will always enable us to stand in the face of Satan, our enemy. If we try to handle the devil on our own, he will defeat us every time. I pray that we will all learn this lesson, and we will all be led to the Rock of our salvation, the One who will deliver us from every enemy.
