A Testimony and A Law to Teach

Every Christian has a testimony. It is our story about what God has done in our life. Also, we all have God's law, His Word. It tells us what we are to do to live the Christian life, as He desires. Both of these things are not to be kept to ourselves, but they are to be taught to others, especially our children and grandchildren. This is God's plan for multiplying the gospel message in our families and in the world. The psalmist proclaimed this truth. (Psalm 78:5,6) God had established a testimony in Jacob, and He had set up a law in Israel, which He commanded their ancestors to teach their children, so that a future generation - children yet to be born - might know. The people of God were to rise up and tell their children. If we fail to lead our children to the Lord, Christianity is just one generation from extinction at any time.

God's testimony of what He has done for us, for our family, and for our country is truly amazing. It is a story worth telling all the time. We need to spend time with our children telling them all of the stories about God's goodness in saving us and sustaining us. The same is true of God's Word. It is perfect. It leads us in the right way for every area of life. We need to teach God's Word to our children on their level, so they comprehend the absolute truths of God and His creation. We need to do all of this consistently and well, teaching them to do the same thing for their children. We must impress on them the necessity of keeping the message going from one generation to the next, no matter what. See what I mean? There is no one more important to reach for Christ than our children and grandchildren. Then, we can branch out to share our testimony and God's law with others, after we have been faithful to keep our family the priority.
