God Reigns

We have heard a lot of coverage of Queen Elizabeth lately, because she just celebrated being queen of the United Kingdom for 70 years. That is a noteworthy milestone for her and the country of England. Now, she is 96 years old, so no one is sure how much longer she will be able to reign as queen. Things have been stable for her 70 years as queen, but now change could be coming, and people do not know what to expect. The same is not true for the world in which we live. Yes, we have a Monarch, but our King is eternal. (Psalm 47:8) The God of the Bible reigns over the nations, all nations. He is seated on His holy throne in heaven. His reign will never, and there is no way there will be any changes that He does not engineer Himself. We should all take comfort in this reality.

God is sovereign. He can do whatever He wants to do. He is never in danger of being overruled by anyone else. He is also All-mighty and All-wise. God always does the right thing in every situation, as He draws this world to the conclusion He has planned for it and its inhabitants. God can accomplish this because He reigns over every single country on the earth at the same time. He allows the leaders to come to power, but they are always under His ultimate control. He can remove them at any time. God knows what is best for each nation, and He does it perfectly well. God is seated on His holy throne, and we can know that all will be well for those who know Jesus as Lord and Savior. Yes, there is nothing to worry about. Whatever Russia decides to do, or whatever China does, God is ruling over both of those powerful countries. They will only do what contributes to His plan for the world. The same is true for the USA. We may think things are out of control, but they aren't. God is in control. All we, as Christians, need to do is to trust Him one day at a time, trusting that our God reigns, and that He will work all things together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His promise. (Romans 8:28) I pray this will help all of us have peace, if we know Jesus, and it will help others turn to Jesus today.
