The Lord's Fire Fell

When God works in a supernatural way, it is unmistakable.  When people see the hand of God in action, they cannot deny that it is God. That is one of the reasons God works miracles. They are undeniable experiences of His power and goodness. I believe we need to pray constantly for God to work in His unique ways to show everyone that He is Lord of all. That is what happened with Elijah on Mt. Carmel. He set up a showdown with the 450 prophets of Baal. The prophets of Baal built an altar first, put the bull on it, and cried out to Baal to send fire to burn it all up. They failed. However, Elijah rebuilt the altar and soaked it and the sacrifice with water before calling on God. Then, the fire of God fell. (I Kings 18:38-39) The fire consumed the bull, the wood, the stones of the altar, and the dust, and then it licked up all the water. When the people saw God's fire fall, they fell down on their faces and cried out, "The Lord, He is God. The Lord, He is God!" We need to see God's fire fall today.

When we come together for worship, we need to pray for God to show up and do something that was not in the order of service. We need to pray for God to so touch hearts that people will fall before Him and confess Jesus as Lord. This can and will happen if we, as God's people, will earnestly pray, like Elijah. (James 5:16-18) What is God waiting for? I believe He is waiting to see if we will believe in His power and goodness so completely that we expect Him to work. Then, we could see the Lord's fire fall in so many ways. People could be healed. Demons could be cast out. Families could be reunited. There is no limit to the power of God, except where we limit Him by our lack of faith and submission to Him. Please, don't misunderstand me. I am not saying we can get God to do our will. I am saying we need to trust God to do His will, so much that He would work miracles in and through us. Let's pray for the Lord's fire to fall this week and see what happens.
