My Strength and My Song

There are so many things to praise God about. I wonder why we find it so hard to include praise in our times of prayer? It could be that we don't really know how important it is to praise the Lord, but we are commanded to rejoice in the Lord always. It could be that we do not spend enough time thinking about His Person and His nature. If we did, we would see all kinds of things to praise Him for every day. Moses and the Israelites sang a song of praise to God after they had crossed the Red Sea on dry ground and had seen all of the Egyptian army including the Pharaoh drown. (Exodus 15:2) We can learn a lot form this one verse that will serve us well as we seek to fill our hearts and lives with praise for the Lord.

We must always praise the Lord for being our strength. Remember that without Him we would have no strength or ability to do anything. Without Him, we can't even get up in the morning. The Lord is our song. His joy and gladness fill our heart with a song all day long, if we are walking in His Spirit as we should. Yes, He has become our salvation. For us by sending Jesus to pay for our sins on the Cross and rise again to proclaim His victory over Satan and death. For the Israelites by opening the Red Sea and having them escape the bondage of Egypt. Yes, He is our God, if we have trusted Jesus, so we will praise Him. He is our father's God, so we will exalt Him. What a mighty, wonderful God we serve! I pray that we will sing His praises everywhere we go.
