God's Abundant Provision

God always provides us what we need to do what He calls us to do. In fact, He gives us abundant provision for our needs when we are faithful to Him. We see this over and over in the Bible, and we see it consistently in our own lives. God is so good! A great example is when the time came for the Hebrew slaves to leave Egypt in the Exodus of over 2 million people. The final plague was the death of all of the firstborn children and livestock in the whole country. When God did this, there was not an Egyptian home that did not have at least one person dead. Moses had told the people earlier that God said to go to their Egyptian neighbors before they left the country and ask them for silver, gold, and clothes. (Exodus 12:35,36) Therefore, the Hebrews did that. Because of the plague, the Israelites had such favor with the Egyptians that they gave them silver and gold items, as well as, clothes just as they requested. This is how God plundered the Egyptians for His people. It was God's provision for their journey.

We all need provision for the journey of life. We get much of that provision as we work  to provide for our needs. This is still God's provision, because He gives us the ability to do our job, both the physical and intellectual capabilities. We need to constantly thank God for His abundant provision for us and our family, as we are faithful to do the work He has for us to do. Yes, we should depend on the Lord to show us the job we should have and how to do it for His glory. Also, we must be good stewards of all He gives to us. However, God also provides for us abundantly when we have special needs and unforeseen circumstances. God does this in a variety of ways, but He never fails if we are faithful to follow His will. Sometimes, we get a large gift from family or a friend. Other times, God provides in a supernatural way, like He did for the Israelites in Egypt. Either way, it is enough or more than enough to meet our needs, as it was for the Israelites to have what they needed for 40 years in the wilderness. We can count on God. The question is, "Can He count on us to be faithful to do His will?" If the answer is yes, we will see God's abundant provision for our life.
