The Day of the Lord

Sometimes, the Bible speaks of the Judgment day as the Day of the Lord. At other times, the Day of the Lord is when God shows up to judge us in the here and now. We all need to be ready for both of these events. This holds true for individuals and for nations. God is judging all nations all of the time. Obadiah makes that very clear. (Obadiah 15) The Lord could bring His wrath against any nation at any time. He will do to them as they have done to others. Their dealings will return on their own heads. That is a scary thought when we look around at what is happening in our world today.

We have seen this principle in history. Think of God's judgment on Germany for the Holocaust. They killed millions of Jews, and then God had many of their people killed and their country destroyed. Now, we can look back to see many good things that the United States have done to help other countries. There is no doubt that God has blessed our country because of our dealings. However, now we are promoting things that are against the Lord and His Word. We are sanctioning marriage between two people of the same sex. We are promoting abortion all the way until birth. We are persecuting Christians, instead of being the light of the world. When will the Day of the Lord come on America for these things? No one knows, but we need to pray and do what we can to see our country come back to the Lord and do the right things, or it could come very soon.
