Prepare to Meet Your God

Everyone will meet God one day. We will not necessarily meet the god we worshiped. No one will stand before Allah or Buddha. Everyone will stand before the One True God, no matter what they worshiped or if they worshiped nothing. It will be an overwhelming experience, since we can't fathom the greatness of God. He will be beyond anything we can imagine, no matter how much we know from the Bible. The prophet Amos gave Israel the message of God that they should prepare to meet their God. (Amos 4:12,13) At that time God was getting their attention by sending all kinds of problems on them. However, He wanted them to know that those trials were only the precursor to meeting Him in a time of judgment. Then, He introduced Himself to them as the One who forms the mountains and creates the wind. He is the One who declares to man his thoughts and makes dawn into darkness. He is the One who treads the high places of the earth. The Lord of hosts is His name. Is that who you are prepared to meet?

God is not a kindly old man sitting on a throne. He is the Creator of all that exists. He formed the great mountains with a word. He created the wind, and He is still able to send it where He desires. He knows all of the thoughts of every person in earth. He can turn on the light of dawn, or He can turn it into darkness. He walks on the tops of the highest mountains without any trouble. He is the God of Heaven, the Lord of all the hosts of the angels. He is All-mighty, All-knowing God. Nothing escapes His eyes and ears. There is no one who is able to withstand His power. The Lord of hosts is the One we will all meet. I pray that we all will be able to stand in His presence forgiven of our sins and having lived the abundant life in Christ well, so that we will have nothing to fear. If not, it will be a harrowing experience instead of a joyful one.
