What God Hates

God hates sin. All sin is evil. Let's not fool ourselves into thinking that some sins are worse than other sins. A sin is a sin. Yes, some have worse consequences, that is for sure. However, one sin is enough to break our fellowship with God and send us to Hell. God had showed this truth to Solomon. (Proverbs 8:13) That is why he wrote to us that the fear of the Lord is to hate evil. If we know God's heart, we will fear Him in the right way and hate evil. We will know that He hates pride, arrogance, the evil way, and the perverted mouth. What does that say to us today?

Evil is becoming the norm today. In fact, many have begun to do what the Bible forbids us to do. They are calling evil good and good evil. Everything is turned upside down and backwards. As believers,  we must not give in to the temptation to adopt the ways of the world or the philosophy of the world. We must hate evil as God does and live in a healthy fear of God. Then, we need to realize that pride is as bad as any sin. It is the root of many other sins. It might be subtle pride that others can't see, but our trust in ourselves instead of in God will always lead us to sin, and it is a sin in itself. Of course, outright arrogance is a sin God hates. None of us deserve to boast in anything we do, because all of our abilities come from God. We must hate the evil way like God does. The evil way is doing things the way this world does them. It is rejecting God's Word and going the opposite way. Finally, a perverted mouth is a sin. Yes, even those snide comments, and off-color jokes are hated by God, and we should not have anything to do with them. It is easy to see that Solomon is trying to show us that God hates all sin, and we must hate it, too, if we are going to walk in the fear of the Lord each day.
