I am Insignificant

Each of us wants to be significant. We want to be seen as a person of worth, who has something to contribute to our world in some way. Some try to have significance through their intellect. Others seek to be important because of their job or their financial wealth. However, the reality is that compared with God none of us are significant, Our intellect is dwarfed by His wisdom and understanding. God is the Sovereign Ruler of the universe, so what are we compared to Him. All of the silver and gold belong to God, our Creator, so nothing we have compares to His wealth. We should all come to the point where we say what Job said to God, "I am insignificant." (Job 40:4) Job made this humble declaration after hearing from the Lord and realizing he had no reply adequate for God. He simply put his hand over his mouth in silence before the Holy God.

Even though we are insignificant when we are compared to God, we are significant in several important ways. Each of us is made in the image of God. Therefore, we are blessed to have the ability to have relationships, to think deeply, to communicate clearly, to love others, and to have quality relationships, among other God qualities. That makes every life significant, and we must not diminish human life in any way, or we go against God's purpose for people. Also, we are significant to God. He loves us. He loves us so much that He sent His Only-Begotten Son, Jesus, the God/Man to live a sinless life, die for our sins shedding His blood as the only payment for those sins, and to rise again to prove He is Lord of all, able to save us. Then, when we trust Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior, He adopts us into His family, prepares a place for us in heaven to be with Him forever, and to serve Him forever. I would say God has deemed us to be very significant when it comes to these things. Therefore, let's not be down on ourselves. Let's see us as our Loving Father sees us, and let's do all we can to be who He made us to be as a person and as a believer.
