Answering to God

Sometimes our pride wells up in us, and we really think we are smart.  We feel like we are even an expert in a particular subject. Other times, we feel like we have things figured out, so we want to talk with God and give Him some insights He might have missed. That is a terrible place to get in life. When we get like that, we are in for a major fall. God will make sure we have a rude awakening as to how much we do not know. That is what God did for Job. (Job 38:3,4) Job knew he was righteous, and he stood on his integrity, but he really wanted to ask God some questions and fill Him in on some things. Well, God came to Him, and told Job to prepare to answer God's questions and then, instruct God. God asked him where he was when God laid the foundations of the world. He told Job to let Him know if He understood that process. Of course, none of us could answer God on any such things, and we need to have a humble view of ourselves in the light of God's wisdom and power.

None of us understands how the earth hangs in space like it does. None of us knows how God created the entire universe. We have a very limited understanding of all of the laws of nature He put in place to keep it all working together. We could never answer God on these things. That should show us that we do not really have a clear understanding of anything, except what God has revealed to us in His Word. Even our mathematical calculations are not as precise as we think they are. God knows everything completely, and we must defer to Him. Let's not ever think we want to question God or to give Him any insights. He is Lord of all, and He knows all. We are but a speck of dust in the universe and in eternity. If it wasn't for His great love to send Jesus to pay for our sins, so we could know Him and have eternal life, we would be totally lost and undone. Please, let's make sure we all keep this perspective all of the time.
