A Stronghold for the Oppressed

God has a tender heart. He especially has a soft spot in His heart for people who are oppressed. There are many kinds of people who are oppressed and afflicted in various ways, but God sees it all, and He is there for them. David knew this reality, and he expressed it well for us. (Psalm 9:9,12) God is a stronghold for the oppressed. In times of trouble the oppressed can seek refuge in the Lord as their stronghold of protection and deliverance. God always remembers to hear the cries of the afflicted. That is why He requires the blood of any person who sheds blood to be shed. God holds the one who brings the affliction to be punished. We can be assured as David was that God is concerned for people who can't care for themselves, and He ensures justice for them.

Some of us might consider ourselves to be oppressed and afflicted by others. What should we do? Should cry and give up? Never. We should run to the Lord as our Stronghold. He can and will deliver us, because of His great love for us. We should cry out to the Lord in prayer, so God will hear and remember our cries. We know He cares, so we cast ourselves upon Him to defend us, and to guide us away from oppression and pain. The Lord cares, and He will direct us to His safe place, where we can heal from our wounds and be blessed. Let's not give up on the Lord in this time of people being oppressed on this earth. Let's cry out to the Lord, so He can be our stronghold, and we can live a very steady life in His power. Believe me, God will be there for us when we do.
