No City Too High For Us

God told the Israelites that He had given them the land of Canaan, and He would fight for them, so they could drive out all of the peoples of the land. They failed to trust the Lord, because 10 of the spies came back saying that the people were giants, and the cities were too high for them to conquer. Therefore, God sent them into the wilderness for 40 years until that generation of adults died. As Deuteronomy begins, the younger generation is poised to take the land of Canaan, but first, God tells Moses to attack the army of Sihon, king of Heshbon. When the people obeyed God, they took over the whole land of Heshbon, and they returned with a good report for Moses. (Deuteronomy 2:36) They were able to take the entire land of Heshbon, and no city was too high for them to take over. The Lord their God delivered all over to them. God is so good. He always does just what He says He will do.

Is there anything in your life that you think is impossible for you to conquer? If we know the Lord, and we are following His will for our life, there is nothing too difficult for us. We have to trust Him, though. He will not take the fight away from us, but He will fight for us, once the step up and go to the battle. Then, no matter what obstacles we face, none of them will be "too high" for us to overcome. If we have fear, so that we won't take that first step, we will never experience the victory. Sure, we may fail, at times, but it is better to fail, trying to trust God than to never try at all. Then, other times God will even show us His power in a lesser area first, like He did for Israel against Sihon. However, even then, we have to be faithful to do what He says. As the Bible says God knows those who are faithful in a little will be faithful in much, as well. Therefore, never forget that no city is too high for us, but God will deliver all over to us, as we obey Him.
