Is Anyone Thirsty? Come

The last chapter of the last book in the Bible ends with an invitation. It is an invitation to come and receive life. It is extended to all people. As God showed John all of the things recorded in the book of Revelation, He gave him this description of God's final invitation in His Word. (Revelation 22:17) The Lord is calling people to come to Him for life. He is using the Spirit and the Bride, the Church, to issue this call to all who are thirsty. The appeal is open to all who will come. No one is turned away who comes to Him, and He grants them to drink freely of the Water of life eternally. What a fantastic way to show us all God's heart.

The Bible is clear that unless the Spirit draws us we can't come to know Christ. However, there are many verses like this one that show us that the Spirit calls all people. Also, the Bible is clear that this is the responsibility of the Church, the people of God. We are the ones who have received life, and we are to sound forth the invitation to all people groups that life eternal is there for them to receive, too. We work in connection with the Spirit to reach all who are thirsty, and show them the way to the Water of Life. Of course, Jesus is the Only Way, but He is ready to supply that water to all. I pray we will all have the assurance of our eternal life, and we will no longer be thirsty, because Jesus has supplied the Living Water which satisfies our thirst forever.
