They Don't Know How to Blush

It is a terrible situation when God's people do not feel any shame for their sins. It is a very serious situation when they willingly choose to disobey God, so they can do their own thing. Finally, it is even worse, when they abandon God to worship false gods. All of these things were  true of God's people in Judah in the days of Jeremiah. (Jeremiah 6:15) He did his best to warn the and to deliver God's message that judgment was coming if they did not repent and follow Him completely. However, the people hit bottom in their sins, but they would not listen to God, so He declared them to be finished. Let's hear the message of God through Jeremiah, so we will not get to this place today.

Remember, this passage is speaking to God's people, those people who "said" they trusted the Lord. That was the problem. They said they believed Him and were following Him, but their actions proved otherwise. I wonder what our actions say to God today? When we sin against Him, are we embarrassed? If sin doesn't cause us to be embarrassed, we are far away from God. Do we blush when we hear something off-color or just outright nasty being said? If not, our hearts are so hard, we need to run to God in fear and trembling. We don't want to hit bottom in life, and we really don't want to get to the place where there is no getting up. Can that happen to a believer? Yes it can. Remember the people God killed in the New Testament because they sinned in these ways, Ananias and Sapphira to name two. Let's turn back to God, if we are far from Him. Let's do it before God says we're finished. Let's get back to the place where we know how to blush and be happy that there are things that make us blush.
